Interview with Alice Knight // At Her Fingertips Blog Tour

Hello, everyone! Today I am very excited to welcome you to the blog tour for Kellyn Roth’s new book. I was able to secure an interview with the main character herself (such a fun girl 😉 ) as well as do a review of the book! so let’s get started!

*Katja steps onto stage and sits down on sofa*

So today I have another character interview to share with you all! I will be interviewing Alice Knight, one of the MCs of the series (and the MC of this book). Let’s give her a big welcome!!

*leads off a round of clapping*

Katja: Good day, Alice!! Thank you so much for joining me today on Little Blossoms for Jesus. Since our audience probably doesn’t know anything about you, can you tell us something about yourself?

Of course. I’m Alice Knight – that much you probably know. I’m eighteen, and I was born and raised in England – particularly, in London, then Yorkshire, and now I live in Kent, which is a bit south of London. It’s the location of my father’s ancestral home, Pearlbelle Park. I’ll be debuting into London society this coming month, and I’m terribly excited as it’ll mean I’ll actually be a woman. At least by my own standards.

Katja: Oh my, how exciting! I’m sure it will go well. Now for a question that is a little more unique… What does your first name mean and what cultural root does it have? And do you like it?

I haven’t the faintest idea what it means or what the cultural root is, really – it’s my father’s sister’s name. I’ve never met her, but it sounds like she was a good woman, so I suppose I like it. I hadn’t ever given it any thought, though.

Katja: Oh, that is so sweet that you’re named after your aunt. My middle name is my great-grandmother’s mother’s name, which I think is lovely. Now, I know you’re a Christian. Do you have a favourite Bible verse you could share with us?

I love Psalm 28:7 – “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him.”

Katja: Oh, I love that verse! Here’s our next question… a more original one, but hopefully a good one. 😉 What is your favourite thing about Nettie?

I love how she’s always calm; she has marvelous self-possession. I think every woman should aspire to such control of their words and actions.

Katja: She is a wonderful woman indeed, I agree. What’s your favourite meal?

I’ve never really … thought about it. I feel as if food is food – you eat it, and it’s not polite to complain, so I don’t understand the point of having a preference, truly. I do prefer savory things to sweet, but that’s more general than specific.

Katja: My, I admire your lack of fuss! Do you prefer to be at home or out among people (such as at parties)?

It depends. I enjoy being out among people, but I’d rather it be doing something I enjoy – for instance, I’d like to be at a race track, seeing all the crowds of people, or an art gallery, or perhaps at a dinner party discussing philosophy. However, I would rather be at home with my family than at a ball, in general.

Katja: I think I agree with you. Next question… If everything failed and you suddenly had to earn your living, what would you do?

*nervous laugh* I’m quite sure that won’t be necessary! But I like to think I’d rise to the challenge, even if it would be utterly humiliating. Perhaps I could support myself like that character in Ivy’s favorite book at the moment – The Tenant of Something Or Other? There’s a lady who paints to support herself and her child, isn’t there?

Katja: Might that be The Tenant of Wildfell Hall? I’m about to read that one, so I’m not sure. But I’m sure you could paint to support yourself. On a scale of one to ten, with Mrs. Knight being ten, how preoccupied with society and social standing are you?

Well, I’m not sure Mother is … *reconsiders* … and I’m not sure if I’m … *reconsiders again* Well. Perhaps an eight or a nine? *coughs politely into her gloved hand*

Katja: Ah, interesting! I might not have guessed that. From what I know of you, I know you like the outdoors. Have you a favourite flower or animal—BESIDES HORSES—or bird or… *gestures vaguely* something like that?

I haven’t use for flowers, in general, as they’re just plants. I think trees are nice, though. Also, I like dogs. From a distance, I’ve been known to appreciate sheep, but only from a distance.

Katja: Dogs are nice. Sheep are good from a distance, I agree. And the final question—what is your favourite thing about God?

That’s a difficult question for me – there are a lot of things to mention. I really appreciate His wisdom. Which perhaps sounds silly, but He is all-knowing, and in the end, His ways are the ones most bound to, well, wisdom. That’s something I crave so much in my life.

Katja: What a lovely answer, Alice. I agree, that’s a very wonderful thing about Him. Thank you again for joining me today!

Thank you for interviewing me!

Katja: *turns and faces audience* All right, ladies and gentlemen, I have no idea how to end this interview, so let’s just blunder through it. Thank you for joining me in welcoming Alice, and for listening to our interview. I hope you all have a blessed day, and please take a quick look at the information booth set up in the corner! Goodbye!

Blurb:
She’s willing to do anything to follow her plan.
Debutante Alice Knight is ready for her first social season in London. She’s determined to impress society and her mother with an affluent match, at last escaping her past and embracing a future of her own making.
Peter Strauss, an American reporter visiting England, isn’t exactly what Alice had in mind. However, his friendship proves invaluable as Alice faces the challenges of her debut. Almost immediately, she attracts the attention of a well-born gentleman—perfect save for the simple fact that he’s not a Christian.
The life she longs for is finally at her fingertips, but between her own heart and the convictions of her faith, she isn’t sure she ought to grasp it.

About the Author:
Kellyn Roth is a Christian historical women’s fiction & romance author from North-Eastern Oregon who has independently published multiple novels, the most notable being The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series. You should definitely call her Kell.
Kell lives on family-owned property outside an unmemorable but historical town with her parents, two little brothers, arbitrary cat, precious border collies, a dozen cows, and lots of chickens. She also possesses a classic, vintage aesthetic which does not at all speak to her country girl side, but such is life.
When not writing, Kell likes to blog, teach writing to her various students, have day jobs which allow her to keep her car properly insured, and spend lavish amounts of money on Dairy Queen french fries. She also likes to talk about Keira Knightley and her own books way too much.
