Dear Child // Write for Life: Sustainer’s Smile & To Save a Life Launch Tour

Dear Child, you are precious. What beautiful little hands you have! What tiny feet! What perfect fingers! What a sweet, sweet little fuzzy head you have, and how good you smell!

Dear Child, you are loved. I wish to do the best for you. I will feed you, comfort you, hold you, clean you, nurse you, play with you, protect you. I love you so much!

Dear Child, you are wanted. You have been awaited so long! All her life, Mama dreamed of carrying you. She and Daddy have been praying for a baby for years.

Dear Child, you are beautiful. Your skin is so soft, your eyes so solemn, your smile so rare, your voice so heart-stopping. I can’t wait to see them.

Dear Child, you are a blessing. How I will kiss your wee hands. How I shall cuddle your little body against me. How I will press your cool feet against my cheek and trace your jawline. How blessed I am!

Dear Child, you are special. How tiny and adorable you are. How sweet your smile is, and how full of love your eyes shall be! How priceless will be your wet kisses and babbling confidences!

Dear Child, you are deserving of life. How amazing that you are God’s own art, signed with His fingerprint! How beautiful that in you is so much possibility and wonder!

Dear Child, you are worth fighting for. How trustful you will be towards me, with your arms spread wide and tiny fists clenched. How you depend on me for everything without doubt, without fear. How you will cry to me for help and shelter in everything.

Dear Child, you are not a choice. You are unique. You are an individual. You are a person, created by the Master Artist for great things. Your life is His.

Dear Child, you are not a mistake. Your little life was sparked by God. His plan for you is marvellous. He has your path and map prepared. He knows your every part; He has them counted. He knows your name.

Dear Child, you are not a problem. What a gift you are. How glorious that the Creator gave you to me! How wonderful that He set me apart to care for you and teach you!

Dear Child, you are being fought for. We will offer ourselves for you. We will open our hearts and hands and homes to you. We will show options.

Dear Child, you are not unseen. We will fight for your survival. We will pray for your life. We will speak of your value.

Dear Child, you are wept for. We weep for your loss. We weep as we think of what you might have been. We weep as we think of what death has destroyed forever.

Dear Child, you are cherished in our hearts. We will remember you. We will share your story. We will speak your little unknown name.

Dear Child, you are safe. The Great Father holds you secure. The Lamb carries you in His bosom. Love and joy and music surround you.

Dear Child, you are not unheard. We heard of your slaughtering. We heard of your pain. We heard of your fear, your betrayal.

Dear Child, we stand for your life. We rise for your right to exist. We rise for your preciousness. We rise for your worth.

Dear Child, we will not yield. We will not accept half-measures. We will not allow compromises. We will not agree to hypocrisy.

Dear Child, we will not surrender. We will not allow the years to discourage us. We will not let the opposition frighten us. We will not let the lack of result to silence us.

Dear Child, your death will not be in vain. We will cherish life around us. We will be grateful for our lives. We will choose life.

Dear Child, we will help. We will love mothers. We will protect them. We will guide and encourage and comfort them.

Dear Child, we will not be passive. We will not be silent. We will not be unheard or inactive. We will stand, we will speak, we will fight.

Dear Child, we will make a difference. We will continue in God’s strength. We will remember the Right shall win. We will remember the horror will end.

Dear Child, you are not forgotten.

  1. Somehow, this really touched me . . . I’ve always been pro-life but the issue has seemed a bit distant because I’ve never personally known anyone closely affected by it. But recently, my close friend lost her baby around 30 weeks, and that experience really impacted me. Baby K was loved and longed-for and continues to be missed by his mom and dad and three older siblings, so there was never any doubt that his life was valued . . . but somehow it really hits home to me how much a tiny little soul means, and how amazing it is that his brief little life won him eternal joy forever!!
All life is precious . . . I don’t ever want to forget that!
